We
wanted to know what kind of tests were conducted on
Tian Xian Liquid and whether the liquid is the main
product of the entire Tian Xian product line
and we got the following results:
It seems that the Liquid is main product of the entire
Tian Xian product line. We could not find any testing
on Tian Xian capsules, plaster and others.
As far as Tian Xian Liquid is concerned, however we
could find some convincing testing and laboratory
experiments:
Tian Xian Liquid has obtained the following
certificates:
- it has met the US Food and Drug Administration's
(FDA) standard as a dietary supplement in December
1999.
- in December 2000 it has obtained a certificate listing
it as a therpeutic good from the Australia Therapeutic
Goods Administration (TGA).

Abstract: Recurrent aphthous ulcerations (RAU) represent
a common oral mucosal disease with altered humoral
and cellular immunities. In our institution, an immunomodulating
agent, levamisole, is used to treat RAU with satisfactory
therapeutic effect. Tian Xian Liquid is an extract
of Chinese medicinal herbs with immunomodulating effects.
To test whether Tian Xian Liquid has immunomodulating
effects on antigen-stimulated proliferation response
(PR) of peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC)
and T-cells isolated from RAU patients and to test
whether Tian Xian Liquid is a potential drug for treating
RAU, PBMC or T-cells isolated from RAU patients were
incubated with lipopolysaccharides (LPS) from Escherica
coli, phytohemagglutinin (PHA), staphylococcal enterotoxin
B (SEB), glutaraldehyde-inactivated tetanus toxoid
(TT), glucosyltransferase D (GtfD), or antigens of
Streptococcus mutans in the presence or absence of
Tian Xian Liquid. We found that Tian Xian Liquid significantly
increased the LPS-stimulated PR of PBMC from active
RAU patients, the GtfD-stimulated PR of PBMC and of
T-cells from inactive RAU patients, and the S. mutans-stimulated
PR of PBMC from inactive RAU patients. However, Tian
Xian Liquid could also significantly reduce the SEB-stimulated
PR of PBMC and of T-cells from active RAU patients
and S. mutans-stimulated PR of T-cells from active
RAU patients. These results suggest that Tian Xian
Liquid can modulate the antigen-stimulated PR of PBMC
and T-cells from RAU patients.
Therefore, it may be a potential immunoceutical agent
for treatment of RAU.

Immunization
Function Tests
Test conducted on laboratory mice concluded that Tian
Xian Liquid:
1.
Increases the phagocytosis of macrophage
2.
Strengthens lymphatic conversion for the spleen
3. Raises
the serum hemolysis reaction and anti-host reaction
indicative of significant benefits toward immunization.

Clinical Research Studies on Tian Xian
To better understand the manner in which Tian Xian
Liquid works, China-Japan Feida Union Co., LTD. facilitated
an independent study by the Taipei FRC Biology Study
Center. The study encompassed fifteen experimental
topics and verification processes whereTian Xian Liquid
was identified as subject FRC001 for the purpose of
maintaining a completely unbiased and objective analysis
of the product. The testing was concluded after two
years where four primary directives were addressed.
The following is a summary of those results:
Experiments On The Removal Of Free Radicals
It is able to effectively remove different free radicals
in the body.
It can remove super oxide free radical with a clearance
capacity of 300,000 units of SOD activity per cc.
It can remove free radical generated by white blood
cells, which Vitamin E fails to effectuate.
It can remove hydroxyl free radical, which Vitamin
E fails to effectuate.
It has the capacity to remove lipid peroxides more
effectively than
Vitamin E.
Inhibitory Effect On Tumors
1. It has been demonstrated that Tian Xian Liquid
inhibitory effects were not inferior to that of 5-Fu
(chemical) when evaluated on laboratory mice affected
with sarcoma and hepatocarcinoma and further, exhibited
a quantum reaction, i.e. the larger the dose, the
better the inhibitory effect which was greatly superior
when compared to the reference group consisting of
glossy ganoderma and green algaes.
Toxicology
Experiments
In clinical studies,Tian Xian Liquid was able to pass
very stringent
testing which included:
Acute Toxicity Test
Micro Nuclear Bone Marrow Cell Test
Sperm Distortion Tests
Ames Test
Animal Experiments:
Animal experiments have been conducted by (1) Free
Radical Biology & Development Center, Taipei,
in 1996; (2) Ching-Hsing Medical Foundation from 1999
to 2004; and (3) Tung General Hospital for clinical
trial on T-cells from 2003 to 2004.
Type of Experiments conducted and place:
- Experiments on removal of free radical by Institute
of Biophysics, Academia Sinica, Beijing Bradford Research
Institute, CA, USA.
- Toxicology experiments by Institute of Biophysics,
Academia Sinica, Beijing Bradford Research Institute,
CA, USA.
- Immunization function tests by Institute of Biophysics,
Academia
Sinica, Beijing Bradford Research Institute, CA, USA.
- Inhibition effect on tumor by Guangzhou Tumor Institute.
Eperiment Results:
Tian Xian Liquid is able to effectively remove:
-
Superoxide free radical with clearance capacity of
300,000 unit of SOD activity per c.c.
- Free radical generated by white blood cells which
vitamin E fails to effectuate.
- Hydroxyl free radical which vitamin C fails to effectuate.
- The capacity to remove lipide peroxide is much higher
than that of vitamin E.
Experiments on Toxicology:
From animal experiments on mice, Tian Xian Liquid
was able to pass stringent acute toxicity test, micro-nuclear
of bone marrow cell test, sperm distortion test and
Ames test respectively.
Experiments on Immunization Function:
Animal experiments on mice showed thatTian Xian Liquid
will increase the phagocytosis of macrophage, strengthen
lymphatic conversion for the spleen and raise the
serum hemolysis reaction and anti-host reaction which
indicates significant benefits to immunization.
Experiment on the Inhibition Effect on Tumors:
As the evidence of the test on mice in sarcoma and
hepatocele, inhibition effect showed that Tian Xian
Liquid is not inferior to chemical (5-Fu). Quantum
effect reaction was observed which indicated that
the larger the dosage, the better the inhibition effects.
This was greatly superior to a reference group of
glossy ganoderma and green algaes etc.
Conclusion of the animal experiments on Tian
Xian Liquid conducted by Ching-Hsing Medical Foundation:
It was discovered that Tian Xian Liquid could modulate
the antigen-stimulated PR of PBMC and T cells from
RAU (Recurrent aphthous ulcerations) patients. Studies
showed that Tian Xian Liquid also has anti-inflammatory
and immunomodulating effects that may correct the
altered cellular and humoral immunities in RAU patients.
Therefore, Tian Xian Liquid can be concluded as a
potential immunoceutical agent for RAU patients.
Conclusion on the animal experiments for the killing
of K562 and U-937 cells?
Addition of Tian Xian Liquid at the dilution of 1/100
to complete PBMC or CD8+ cells from either RAU or
EOLP patients significantly augmented the amount of
killing of K562 cells. CD8+ cells, but not the CD4+
cells, are involved in the Tian Xian Liquid-stimulated
killing of K562 cells by PBMC from RAU patients. In
contrast, neither CD4+ nor CD8+ cells are involved
in the Tian Xian Liquid stimulated killing of K562
cells by PBMC from EOLP patients. Tian Xian Liquid
contains ingredients that can either activate NK cells
to kill K562 cells or directly induce the lysis or
apoptosis of the K562 and U937 cells.
